Additional Information: Australian King Parrot: Alisterus scapularis
A beautiful green and red parrot. These birds
are very sexually dimorphic, with the males having a bright red head and breast,
while the female is more generally green. They usually travel in pairs or small
groups of juveniles, sometimes in a strange mix of confusing, undeveloped
plumage colours. They are found in the rainforests and wetter sclerophyll along
the east coast where their high 'ching ching' calls may be heard as they zoom
overhead. |
