Praying Mantid
Praying Mantids, Order Mantodea
Praying Mantids are efficient
predators, catching and munching on anything they think they can tackle. They
are vaguely stick insect-like in appearance, but are distinguished by the
modified front limbs, which can spring out to grasp and manipulate their prey.
When folded up, they give the appearance of 'praying' and thus the common name. |
